An Estimated 8 Million Dogs are Euthanized in Shelters Each Year in North America
Millions more are abandoned, only to suffer from illness or injury before dying homeless.

NEW YORK, NY, February 16, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Red Scooter Dog reminds us the 'throw-away' society we've become promotes the pain and suffering of scores of dogs. Over $2 billion is spent annually by local governments to shelter and ultimately destroy 8-10 million adoptable dogs.

Each day 10,000 humans are born in the U.S. - and each day 70,000 puppies are born. As long as these birth rates exist, there will never be enough homes for all the dogs. Dog overpopulation spreads an insidious disease: Euthanasia

We respond to this disease with denial, much like any other terminal illness. We look the other way. The fact remains: there are too many dogs, not enough good homes.

When you purchase a dog at a pet store over adoption at a shelter you play a role in the pain and suffering of scores of dogs. Before you purchase that dog at your local pet store please consider first visiting a local shelter for your new pet.

Approximately 55% of dogs entering SPCA shelters are killed based on reports from 1,038 facilities across America.
